“What’s Funny?” Comedy and Visual Humor
The session focuses on learning visual humor (slapstick) techniques, exploring the mechanisms and physical comedic structures, and realizing the visual-comedic potential in theatrical perception and directing. Participants will become aware of the physical comedy characteristics and receive tools for diagnosing, defining, and directing based on the principles of ‘the comedy in the situation’ and ‘the comical in the character.’ At the end of the session, participants will present short comedic scenes using the tools learned.
